The CDU Team

The staff that we have at Canoeing Down Under are all paddlers and as such are very experienced and enthusiastic about the sport of kayaking.

Terry Bolland -

Alaine Davin

Alaine paddling the Mckenzie River, Canada

Alaine has been working at Canoeing Down Under for 10 years and in that time has been very involved in steering CDU into the sucessful business it is today. Alaine, who is very competent in doing all the tasks asked from any employee, runs the store when Terry is away on his big trips.

Alaine loves being on the water. She has taken part in 3 Avon Descents, raced in most of WAs marathon races and has paddled on big trips in Canada in canoe and kayak. The first trip to Canada she paddled the entire length on the McKenzie River (nearly 2000kms) and her second trip was crossing Canada for 1000kms paddling and portaging from lake to lake.

Terry Brooke (T2)

Terry is called T2 in paddling circles because of being two Terry's at CDU.

T2 is always all smiles

T2 has been paddling for several years and has a love for anything paddling, although the Avon Descent which he has done several times attracted him to kayaking. It didn't take him long to make an impression on the paddling community. T2 paddles in every kayaking event that he is able to paddle in. In marathon races he is strong and if you beat him you are certainly a good paddler. He is an instructor and he loves coaching and motivating other paddlers in his training seesions. T2 is just a great person and paddlers really respect him.

Josh Kippin

WA 2012. K2 Marathon - WA Slalom Champion  and WA WildWater Champion.

Not many - in fact I can't remember any paddler who has won a Marathon Title, a Slalom Title and a Wild Water Title in the same year. In the recent Wild Water Championships Josh was that fast he beat his nearest rival by 55 seconds.

Josh Kippin is your natural all round talented paddler. It appears that everything he puts his mind to tackling he does it extremely well, including his Uni studies. He is a great worker, a great person and great ambassador for the sport of paddling. He is a flat and white water instructor and a coach who spends a lot of time helping others.

This year (2012) Josh has achieved at a state level
K2 Marathon Champion
K1 Open Slalom Champion
Down River Champion

Josh also won silver at the 2012 National Marathons coming in 2nd in the under 22's.
He also competed with Darryl Long in the Avon Descent and was the 6th fastest team. Unfortunately their double kayak didn't hold up to the beating from the rocks so lost a lot of time.

Josh started paddling as a junior at Ascot Kayak Club and instantly loved the thrills and skills of slalom kayaking. Josh started competing at National Championships and was selected to represent Australia in the 2009 Youth Olympics coming third.

Josh who has been working at Canoeing Down Under for nearly five years works at CDU on a Saturday.

Samantha Pilton

Samantha has been paddling since she was 10 years old. Since then she has never stopped and just loves getting out there on the water. Samantha has competed in several Avon Descents, paddled white water in her play boat and regularly takes part in marathon races. She is a coach and a fierce competitor.
